Down comforters look luxurious and feel soft.  Their puffy texture and alluring design make a bedroom look more elegant.  Down comforters aren’t just a pretty thing to throw across the bed.  Down comforters are practical and warm.  Their insular abilities hold heat close to your body.  Using down comforters in every room can equal serious savings off your total heating bill.

The cost of heat increases every year.  With costs higher than ever before, everyone is looking for ways to save money and conserve energy.  Put down comforters in your living room for lounging.  When you read or watch television, snuggle up under the down comforter.  If you want to add to the living room decor, get a duvet cover to match the design of the room.

Down comforters are available in all sizes ranging from a down throw blanket to a king size down quilt.  Use down comforters in decorative duvet covers to stay warm in the bedroom, living room, family room, den, home office and more.  You’ll see a decrease in your heating bills and increase in your personal warmth with down comforters throughout your home.

Are you tired of realizing the beds are stripped down to nothing after a night of family fun?  Does everyone run to the bedroom for a blanket to curl up by the television or play games?  If you don’t want to make all the beds again at the end of the evening, invest in decorative down comforters for your family room.

Consider an array of options in down ranging from down throw blankets to cushiony comforters.  Plush down comforters are perfect when you snuggle up together to see a scary movie or play video games to determine the family champion.  Down throw blankets are ideal to throw over chilly feet and legs after a long, cold ride home from work.

Another benefit of down comforters in your family room is the additional seating they provide.   Some guests, especially children, love to throw themselves on the floor to watch television or play games.  Lying on a plush down comforter is warmer and more comfortable than the softest carpeting.

Adding down comforters to your family room makes it an even better place to hang out and relax.   Keep your beds neat and your family happy when you add soft, toasty down comforters to your favorite living space.

Now that warmer summer weather is here, everyone likes to spend most of their time outdoors.  While the daytime is traditionally hot and sunny, with nightfall often comes a chill.  To ward off the evening chilliness, many folks have an outdoor fire pit or contained fireplace.  Burning logs, toasting marshmallows and gathering around the fire help everyone to stay warm without go back indoors.

For those chilly nights when you can’t seem to warm up after swimming all day, keep a few down throw blankets in your outdoor storage area.  Store them in a sealed box so the blankets stay dry and smell fresh.  As the sun begins to slip beyond the horizon, line up those comfortable chaise lounges or Adirondack chairs.  Build a warm fire, gather your marshmallows and snuggle up under a toasty down throw blanket for total comfort outdoors.  You might feel so cozy you wind up falling asleep under the stars!

Down throw blankets are also excellent to lay or sit down on if you don’t have enough chairs.  In the winter, you can wash your down throw blankets and bring them indoors for all those cold nights.  Choose unique colors and designs to match every room and season.  Throw one or two in the trunk of your vehicle for those good times on the go.  Down throw blankets are functional and fashionable all year long.

I make it a good habit to take a down thrown blanket along with me everywhere I go.  When my friends asked us to go out on their boat for the day, I packed a big duffel bag with a change of clothes and a couple of down throw blankets.

After sunbathing, fishing, barbecuing on the shore and sipping countless glasses of wine, none of us felt like journeying back to the mainland.  The boat had a spacious cabin with plenty of cushions.  The owners had a couple of quilts for themselves but nothing for my husband and I to use.  I whipped out our down throw blankets and saved the day.

We all decided to continue snacking, fishing and drinking until long after the sun slipped past the horizon.  When we were finally totally exhausted and happy, we sank into the boat cushions with our cozy down throw blankets.  The rocking of the boat lulled us to sleep as we stayed warm under the soft, puffy down.  We woke up to the first morning light over the sparkling sea with the scent of saltwater all around us.  This priceless experience on the boat was possible because we brought our practical down throw blankets

I look forward to Mother’s Day every year to simply get a little time off and pampering.  Whether I wind up going out to dinner or getting a funny breakfast in bed, it’s all good to me.  Sometimes it gets difficult to pretend I like another box of chocolates when I’m trying to diet.

This year, my family treated me to a surprising, fat-free gift.  Instead of plying me with chocolate that’s gone in an hour, I got a present I’ll use for years to come.  Everyone looked so excited when they presented me with a fairly large wrapped box.  They watched for my reaction as I tore open the paper and opened the box.

My family made a wise choice.  They decided to get a down throw blanket as my Mother’s Day gift.  I will use this at night when I watch television and have a cup of tea.  I’ll take it camping, to the beach and on picnics.  This handy down throw blanket is the best Mother’s Day gift I ever got.  Now I wonder if they will get the hint I want a down featherbed for the holidays…

Warmth creates a welcoming mood throughout a home. When you feel the heat from a fireplace or watch a flickering candle, you feel more cozy. Down throw blankets add a touch of soft, insulated comfort to all your living nooks. Create a romantic mood on Valentine’s Day by adding a couple of down throw blankets to your living room decorating scheme.

While often romance lands in the bedroom, the seduction process usually begins in a common area of the house. Set up your living room with a cushioned sofa and several down throw blankets. Play relaxing music in the background, such as easy listening or jazz, for minimal distractions. Light a few scented candles for fragrance and low lighting. Serve wine with decorative flutes and strawberries with chocolate dip. Snuggle up under the down to talk, sip wine and nibble together. The warmth and comfort of cuddling under the down will bring your Valentine’s Day to the next romantic level.

If you’re looking for more love on Valentine’s Day or just want to show that special someone a memorable time, decorate your living room with inviting down throw blankets.

Staying Warm at Home

Who wouldn’t like to carry the warmth of their down comforter with them while they’re not in bed?  With a down throw, you can bring the comfort of your bed with you wherever you go.  Whether it’s curling up on the couch for a movie, appreciating the outdoors on a camping trip, or for those longer road trips, a down throw is ideal for all kinds of situations.  They’re also great for holding babies and newborns, though do be careful because sometimes the blankets become too hot!

Down throws are a bit less common than the more popular down comforters, but they’re often available in bedding stores and online.  Because down throws are made of goose down, they’re more expensive than your traditional fleece blanket, but they’ll last a long time and are well worth the investment.

In today’s economy, few people have extra money for luxuries.  When your furniture starts to show signs of wear and tear, it can get costly to replace.  Instead of buying a new sofa or loveseat because of a worn cushion or a torn back, consider hiding the offending area with a plush, warm down throw blanket.

Using a down throw blanket on a seat cushion or tossed casually over the top of a sofa or chair looks natural.  After all, many people snuggle under a down throw while they read or watch television in the evenings.  A down throw blanket can also camouflage a multitude of imperfections.

Did your little ones doodle on the chair arm with a permanent marker?  Cover it up with a down thrown blanket.  Does your husband come home from work and fail to change his dirty work trousers before he sits on your pale couch cushions?  Cover the offending spot with a colorful down throw.  Is your cat prone to using the back of your sofa as a scratching post?  Before company comes, cover it up with a down throw blanket.

When everyone leaves, you can use the down throw blanket for your own comfort.  Extend the life of your furniture by using  a down throw blanket to hide imperfections.

Down Not Just for Bedding!

Down Not Just for Bedding!

When people think of goose down, often images of comforters, sleeping bags, or sometimes pillows come to mind.  However, goose down can also be used to make warm garments or standard throw blankets.  With a goose down jacket, you’re sure to stay warm even in the coldest weather, and should the jacket become wet, goose down also dries out much faster than fleece or standard clothing insulators.  For those evenings spent on the couch with a loved one, a down blanket is sure to keep both of you toasty warm and allow for an intimate moment.  In addition, down blankets are also great for camping, traveling, or vacationing since they’re warm and can be compressed into a small space.

Remember that although these are a few other uses of goose down, a down bedding set is quite possibly the easiest way to guarantee a better night’s sleep!
