The three key elements are: Fill Power, Thread Count and Baffled. The quality of down is measured by its fill power. Down with a higher fill power will be lighter and fluffier, making the down comforter more cloud-like. Higher fill power will also provide better insulation. The suggested range of the fill power is between 550 to 650 range. The next key element is the thread count. This is the number of threads per square inch. A higher count provides a softer, more durable product. It also keeps dirt from getting in, and down from sneaking out of the comforter. The last key element is the baffled in the down comforter. Baffling is simply a type of construction, specifically sewn in the cloth walls to keep the down from shifting and clumping. Keep this in mind when buying your new down comforter.
