Feather beds are common in other parts of the world, but are fairly new to the United States. As the word states “feather beds”, well the beds were made of feathers. Today’s feather beds are made of polyester, down, feathers, or a combination of feathers and down. The modern style of feather bed is usually 4 to 5 inches thick and stitched in channels or a baffle box design. With all of this cushion even an old mattress will feel soft and cuddly. In order to protect your feather bed you’ll need a featherbed cover. But still you’ll need to do a few things to keep it looking new. You’ll need to shake out the feather bed every couple of weeks, turn it over, and rotate it like a regular mattress. I hope this information has been helpful.
